sun damage & pigment Treatment
Melanocytes are the cells responsible for producing pigment (melanin) in your skin. Sun exposure emits dangerous UV rays that can activate increased melanin production, leading to uneven dark pigmentation, sun spots, freckles, or worsening of Melasma. While most sun spots are not dangerous, it is important to protect your skin against UV rays to prevent skin cancer.
Daily sunscreen use is the first step in combating the effects of sun damage. We recommend a minimum of SPF 30. Mineral sunscreens containing zinc oxide act as a physical barrier that deflects harmful UV rays. Aside from avoiding sun exposure and using sunscreen, Rejuve Medspa also offers various therapies to help reverse the effects of sun damage or unwanted pigment.
